Yesterday evening, new day was thrilled to give away several tables worth of school supplies to the kids who belong to our community.
In a time when a lot of our members are struggling financially, they still showed incredible generosity. We were able to give these kids all they needed and more.
Thank you to everyone who chipped in :) And to Roger Williams for leading this event!
Giving our kids the hook-up :)
Help a child start the school year right! Bring some school supplies by new day anytime between now and August 7.
Today, Roger was given a $20 donation toward the school daze fundraiser he is leading. He and his wife pitched in as well, and ended up with this cart full of back-to-school generosity :)
Roger hopes to provide all the children in our church community with the supplies necessary to start their school year right! The overall goal being to bless the kids that God has blessed us with.
Bring anything from the following school supply list to New Day between now and AUGUST 7. Even one or two items help a great deal!
- Glue sticks
- Scissors
- Ballpoint pens
- No. 2 pencils
- Colored pencils
- A pencil sharpener
- A large pink eraser
- Water-based markers
- A four-ounce bottle of white glue
- Highlighters
- Spiral-bound or composition notebooks
- A three-ring binder
- Loose-leaf notebook paper
- Pocket folders
- A ruler with English and metric measurements
- Scotch tape
- A box of crayons
- Watercolor paints
- Drawing paper
- Construction paper
- A box for storing items (Teachers recommend one that’s eight inches long by five inches wide by two inches deep to hold pencils, crayons, erasers, and scissors.)
- A calendar for scheduling assignments
- Binder dividers (The kinds with pockets are good for loose papers.)
- Several three-ring binders (Some teachers require that a binder be used exclusively for their class.)
- Folders that fit in binders
- A small notebook to record assignments
- A pencil case that fits in binders
- Index cards, ruled and unruled (These are great for making flash cards.)
In the next couple months, stores will have all kinds of sales on school supplies. Many children who come to New Day are living at a low socio-economic level. For five or ten dollars you can easily help fill one child’s backpack.
